My Bmw X5 Transmission Is Having A Shifting Problem When It Warms Up?
My 4.4 x5 is holding each gear up until around 4000+ rpms.
Once the speed drops slightly or below a certain rpms, the transmission does a hard shift back into the lower gear and the rpms and fuel consumption gauge jump up to a high level.
This problem is intermittent and happens after approximately 20 minutes to a half hour of driving.
this is an intermittent issue which happens after about 20 minutes of driving.
Anybody Ever Use Their Streptronic Transmission In Their Bmw?
I just purchased an ‘04 BMW X5 with Steptronic. I am a former manual transmission driver but have found the “shifting” of the steptronic rather odd. I keep wanting to reach for the clutch but of course there isn’t one and cannot get the transmission to shift smoothly regardless. How exactly do you do it!? I do think it is neat and I am sure it will be more fuel efficient I am just new to it. Any pointers or tips?

What Happens If You Drive A 98 Honda Automatic Transmission That Is Low On Oil For 3 Weeks, How Much Damage?
I never had any complaints about my transmission until I had the transimission fluid changed a few weeks ago but it turned out the mechanic did not completely fill the transmission and when I had it checked after 3 weeks the new mechanic said he couldn’t see any oil measured on the dip stick so it was pretty low. There are no leaks in the transmissio so it wasn’t leaking. Can driving it an hour a day for three weeks ruin the transmission when it is that low? The transmission is a 98 Honda automatic with about 199,000 Km on it.

Well first go to a junk yard since its very rare for one to go bad. Then it might be 2 hours labor to put it in. Labor these is anywhere from 100 to 200 an hour. I would find a BMW lover in your area who will do it cheaper since he/she has done it so many times they can do it really fast and cheaper.

10K done right. Best advice is to see if it can be repaired. Or find a known good used transmission and sell it quick they are really crappy fast fun cars.
Sometimes people mis diagosis the actaul transmission as the problem it could be a bad shift selector or computer or even a bad fuse…
