How Do I Turn On The Locking Sounds On Bmw E46′s?

Hi there, I have an E36, and when I lock or unlock the doors via the key fob, it makes beeping noises. However, the E46 I’m getting doesn’t make these beeps. How can I activate them? I found it useful for determining whether or not the vehicle had been locked properly.
