Where Do You Find The Passkey To Your Bmw Bluetooth And What Does It Look Like?

December 10th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in BMW

Depending on your vehicle series and Model Year, the passkey will either be variable or fixed.Variable means you are able to create your own passkey, typically anywhere from 1-16 digits long. Some phones and carriers require only 4 digits; you should be prompted with this information when pairing.
Fixed means that the vehicle was set with a specific passkey when it was built. Refer to your vehicle’s manual for that passkey. If you can’t find it, you must contact your BMW center for more information

if your BMW is equiped with bluetooth device you should follow the below steps:
1 – Start your BMW. It will automatically be in pairing mode for the 2 minutes after it is started.
2 – Go to the connections menu in your Bluetooth enabled phone and select “search for devices”
3 – You should see an ID appear on your phone that starts with BMW. Select this device ID.
4 – Enter the passkey. Once prompted you will only have 20 seconds to complete the task. (passkey must be in your BMW manuals)

6 – Confirm that your contacts have been loaded into the system and perform a test call.

Best And Easiest Phone To Pair With The Bmw Bluetooth Idrive System?

October 5th, 2009 4 Comments   Posted in BMW

Hi, I have a 2008 BMW 528i with the idrive navigation system in it. Hubby tried to pair his Motorola v10 (which BMW stated was compatible) but it did not work. He changed phone to the LGvx8700 and it paired fine. I would like to try a motorola phone (maybe the Maxx VE) or a Samsung phone for myself but don’t want to have to deal with software updates to pair it up to this system. Any suggestions on the best phone to pair on the BMW without hassle? Thanks
