How Much Will It Cost To Replace Transmission Seals On A 95 Honda Civic?

December 20th, 2009 Posted in Honda

I’m thinking of buying this 95 honda civic around 80k miles, but the seller says the transmission seals need to be replaced and I have no idea what that means. Is the car it worth it for $3000 or will I end up spending waaay more?

$3000 is way to high for that car, even if the transmission didn’t leak. You’d spend another thousand to replace the seals, and half the time they still leak after the job.

$3000 is fairly high for a 95 model with a serious leak. What else is wrong that the owner is not telling you about? If the leak is the automatic transmission oil pan then it should only cost $150 to get a mechanic to replace the seal. I would use this defect as grounds to reduce the price at least $500.

Don’t even think about it, sell the car to Car-max so no one gets stuck with the problem and buy another car. NOT WORTH IT.
