How Much Is It To Maintain A Bmw, Audi, Benz Or Saab 60k And After?

February 10th, 2010 2 Comments   Posted in BMW

This is highly subjective. BMWs are extremely unreliable and cost a fortune for simple things once the warranty expires or anything needs to be fixed. Mercedes is not tremendously better when it comes to expensive maintenance but they are generally far more reliable than BMWs. And Saabs… well they’re known for the million-mile Saab, unsurpassed safety, class-topping speed, and Swedish build quality.
Sixty thousand miles isn’t much. The only brand that would concern me at that point is Audi. They are known for being outrageously unreliable and this isn’t just hearsay or a reiteration of Consumer Reports — I did own an A6.
Saabs are very expensive to maintain but they have the fewest weak spots in costly areas of the car. By this I mean that the things you’d fix in a Saab are different from what you would fix in a BMW or Mercedes. Saabs have quirky electrical systems which are super easy and cheap to fix. They also tend to need a new turbo ($1500) by 175,000 miles. BMW issues include transmission failure, gearboxes shattering, and electrical problems. Audi doesn’t have one particular weak spot. Generally, the whole damn thing is a weak spot and for what you get, it’s not worth it. There are much faster, nicer, classier cars available for the same price.

My Bmw X5 Transmission Is Having A Shifting Problem When It Warms Up?

February 10th, 2010 2 Comments   Posted in BMW

My 4.4 x5 is holding each gear up until around 4000+ rpms.
Once the speed drops slightly or below a certain rpms, the transmission does a hard shift back into the lower gear and the rpms and fuel consumption gauge jump up to a high level.
This problem is intermittent and happens after approximately 20 minutes to a half hour of driving.
this is an intermittent issue which happens after about 20 minutes of driving.

What Is The Difference Between The Bmw 325 And 328? Besides That They Were Made Different Years.?

February 10th, 2010 3 Comments   Posted in BMW

Depends on the years in question.
For the E36(92-99) and E46(99-2005ish) the 325 actually had a 2.5 liter and the 328 actually had a 2.8 liter engine. This effected power output.
In the E9X (~2005-present) the 325 and 328 both have a 3.0 liter engine, as well as the 330 and 335. The differences are in the tuning, intake, exhaust, head design, etc. and of course the 335 has a twin-turbo setup.
