The News Headlines Read “failure Of Auto Handout Shows Power Vacuum In Washington”?

Does that mean that someone has unplugged Nancy and Harry? We all know how well they suck, so the whole place should be one giant vacuum, pulling everything into it like a giant black hole. Our taxes, our rights, our freedoms all get sucked right into that place.

What About Tesla Motors Getting A Little Bit Of That Money?

May 20th, 2009 3 Comments   Posted in Auto News Articles

!This is assuming the money hasn’t already been spent and that it has to be spent!
I was watching ABC news the other night and they were doing a piece about Tesla Motors. Which is an American company that is based in California that manufactures a very nice sports car (its price is $109k) that is fully electric. It is faster than many Ferrari’s and has a 300 mile range before it needs to be recharged. This is what they are manufacturing right now.
In development
they have a full size sedan (its price is $55k) that will have a 280 mile range before needing to be recharged, the recharge time will be 45 minutes and will cost about five dollars worth of electricity. (Of course if all this is accurate)
My question is why aren’t we giving this company, instead of the big three, billions dollars to create new jobs and stimulate the economy. I believe that if capitalism is going to work we can’t become nostalgic about keeping Ford, GM, and Chrysler propped up. Unprofitable companies have to be let go. We should let them decrease their size to where they can become profitable again. They’re just too big. By helping Tesla expand it would help create new jobs that would be lost by the shrinking big three.
Helping fund Tesla Motors would help increase their product base to where they can manufacture cars that are more affordable, maybe a mid size sedan for around $30k and a compact for around $20k. Cars that would break our dependence on foreign oil making us safer and put us at the fore front of automotive technology again.
This is assuming that we are going to spend the money anyway.
I know there are holes with my idea but the overall idea is of spending money in places that are coming up instead of ones that are going down.

As Smart As We Are, Does Anyone Think We Already Have Technology To Eliminate The Need For Oil? Why Aren’t We

May 20th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Auto News Articles

using it?
I’ve always thought it was a conspiracy we dont’ have better fuel efficient cars on the road. See below: Are we being screwed by big oil?
I found this news article:
To find the future of the auto industry, Doug Pelmear looked to the past. He says he’s perfected an engine developed by his grandfather 60 years ago; an engine that gives this 1987 mustang 110 miles to the gallon.
Doug Pelmear says, “My grandfather had the idea back in the 40′s that he can make a difference then. There was quite a need at that time also with the war going on and everything; there was quite the need then.”
So, Pelmear, a mechanic in Napoleon, has been tweaking this engine for the past 10 years, squeezing out the maximum amount of power for a minimum amount of gas.
Doug says, “This’ll bring back the automotive industry when they can sell trucks and SUVs’ and the models that are almost dead at this time.”

What Is Going To Happen With Our Economy? What Can Barack Obama Really Do To Change The Economic Problems?

May 20th, 2009 1 Comment   Posted in Auto News Articles

i was looking at this link. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081108/ap_o…
it looks like the economy is going to get worse, and people are going to lose their retirement/pay check cuts.
you think we are going to be like the Great depression. 10 million jobs lost right now, geez. the automotive industry is messed up too.
captialism is full of people taking from the poor, giving to the rich. we are far from socialist.
the Hopi prophecy predicts that this is part of the renewal process as we get closer to 2012- many natural disasters will happen, billions of lives will be lost, more stress, strain, etc. all of this destruction having to do with the selfishness, and people not remaining spiritually connected to the planet. the planet cleansing herself of wicked.
why hasn’t the bailout worked? has it?
i don’t understand the economical problems!

Is Canada Wise To O? “demand Mr.obama’s Words And Deeds Be Screened Over Very Fine Mesh”?

May 19th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Auto News Articles

what an insult!! It goes straight to the honesty of the United States…. o has brought the stink of complete dishonesty on us all.http://thechronicleherald.ca/Columnists/…
There is a shift in the way leading American journalists see the new president. So far, they are more puzzled than openly critical. Fox News and the Wall Street Journal aside, America’s media were in love, smitten by Barack Obama’s looks, charm and words. Today, you can see the magic fading.
First, there is the Washington Post example. Newsweek’s Howard Fineman, senior political and TV commentator, said on the magazine’s website Tuesday that Mr. Obama still has popular approval, but “what’s left of the American establishment is taking measure and, with surprising swiftness, they are finding him lacking.”
Mr. Obama preaches multilateralism and practises unilateralism as nakedly as ever. He informs America’s allies of unilateral decisions he has made and started implementing. Giving high profile to the negotiability of the Polish and Czech anti-missile shields is an excellent example. Building them is a NATO-endorsed decision, and I don’t know when Mr. Obama found the time to consult – not inform – the allies.
On issues vital to Canada’s international trade, the outlook is grim. Ron Kirk, Mr. Obama’s pick as U.S. Trade Representative, said during his confirmation hearing on Monday that the new administration would press trading partners for concessions. He left the impression that beggar-your-neighbour policy is in play.
Whatever Prime Minister Stephen Harper heard from Mr. Obama during his recent blitz visit in Ottawa, Ontario’s automotive and Alberta’s oils and industries should demand Mr. Obama’s words and deeds be screened over very fine mesh.

Washington Lobbying Grew to $3.2 Billion Last Year, Despite Economy.
Published on January 29, 2009 2:09 PM.
While companies across the board were losing record amounts of money and laying off employees last year, at least one industry seemed to weather the recession: lobbying. Special interests paid Washington lobbyists $3.2 billion in 2008, more than any other year on record and a 13.7 percent increase from 2007, CRP has found. Corporations in the finance, insurance and real estate sector and automotive industry actually slowed or decreased their lobbying spending overall last year, relying instead on trade associations to represent them….
